Vertical greenery is a thing now.
After China last month, India's Silicon Valley, Bangalore, now has a vertical garden.
Local NGO SayTrees has set up the city's first organic garden on one of the pillars of a popular flyover.
Over 3,500 saplings from 10 different species have already been planted, according to a Facebook post by SayTrees. The organisation aims to cover all pillars of this 9-kilometer (5.5 miles) long flyover with such creatively designed green patches.
Vertical gardens not only beautify a city and improve biodiversity but also check pollution, reduce smog, act as sound barriers and improve foot traffic. Read more...
