This Dell laptop features a mid-range AMD processor from 2021, 8GB of RAM, 512GB of SSD storage, and a 15.6-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It's nothing revolutionary, but it's a spec sheet we rarely see at this price point. Most cheap, entry-level PCs under $300 have dinky discontinued Intel Pentium/Celeron CPUs, 4GB of RAM, pokier eMMC flash storage that maxes out at 128GB, and 60Hz refresh rates. The laptop is down to $279.99 on Dell's website, which is 38% off its list price and a total bargain, all things considered.

Why we like it

Sub-$600 gaming PCs were some of the fastest-selling laptops during last month's Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, and this HP Victus appears to be the only one that's still lingering around. HP's Holiday Deals event takes $350 off its $949.99 sticker price, which works out to 37% savings. It's a slim 15-inch model with an AMD Ryzen 5 CPU, 8GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 graphics, 512GB of storage, a backlit keyboard, and some nice built-in Bang & Olufsen speakers — a surprisingly sweet spec sheet.

Why we like it

Last year's version of the sleek LG gram 17 nabbed a coveted Editor's Choice Award from our sister site, PCMag (owned by Mashable's parent company, Ziff Davis), which said it "brings better performance, more premium features, and longer battery life to the best big-screen ultraportable laptop." This is the base model with an Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage—pretty generous for a base model. Our apologies to anyone who bought this from LG's website when it first went on sale for $1,399.99, making it sell out. Best Buy just put it on sale for $999.99, or $800 off, and paid members of its My Best Buy program can save an additional $100.
