Tom Hanks thanks hospital workers, acknowledges strange times in at-home 'SNL' opening monologue

Tom Hanks' opening monologue for this special made-from-home edition of "Saturday Night Live" was both a reminder of the weirdness of our current situation, and the lighthearted, soothing balm we need right now. 

 "It's good to be here though it is also very weird to be here," he says, acknowledging that "it is a strange time to try to be funny."

He talks about his COVID-19 diagnosis, joking about Australia's use of Celsius instead of Farenheit. Before thanking hospital workers, first responders, and other helpers, he also discusses how this episode of SNL is going to be different.
