Disney pulls 'Black Widow' release as coronavirus shutters movie theaters

Marvel's Black Widow standalone movie is the latest big blockbuster delayed as coronavirus and social distancing alter daily life. The Disney title was scheduled to open May 1, but with more movie theaters limiting capacity or closing their doors altogether, the studio has postponed Widow's solo outing for the time being. 

As coronavirus prevention limited large crowds and social gatherings, Disney delayed the premieres of Mulan, New Mutants, and Antlers, but held onto the release date of this tentpole for as long as possible. Disney parks have also closed to the public. Other studios have opted to move up films' digital releases, but no one has canceled a theatrical debut altogether in favor of a digital one.
