Child with autism gets surprise gift after shop runs out of his favourite shoes

Sometimes, a simple gesture can make the daily life of autistic children significantly easier. 

Steph Opogah, mum of a 2-year-old with autism, praised retailer Mothercare for providing a box full of his favourite brightly coloured shoes after they were sold out. 

Opogah said six months ago she bought her son the shoes that had a toadstool and a rainbow. He absolutely fell in love with them because he can't bear the feeling of buckles or socks or wet grass beneath his toes. 

"Some surfaces he's so sensitive to, he has to be carried. But he loved these shoes," she said in a Facebook post.  Read more...
