Disney's new animated project is going into outer space

DisneyToon Studios is ready to fly higher than ever.

At D23 today, Disney announced a new movie set "at the furthest edges of aviation" – i.e., space. And if the cartoon eyes are any indication, it seems to be another project set in the Cars and Planes universe.

Disney's John Lasseter gave the D23 audience a little taste with what he called the "speed test" clip. In it, two planes speed over a desolate desert landscape. Then we see another plane (the space-capable Blackbird SR-71, but with eyes) far above them – so far above, in fact, that it's actually in space.  Read more...
