Chance the Rapper dropped by the very excited NPR Music offices in June for his very first Tiny Desk Concert— a must-do for talented artists who come within a five-mile radius of the NPR headquarters in Washington D.C.
Per NPR's Robin Hilton, the musician penned a poem just for the occasion — as in, written during the ride from his hotel to the office — and titled it "The Other Side."
Between a performance of "Juke Jam" off his 2016 album Coloring Book and a cover of Stevie Wonder's "They Won't Go When I Go", Chance performed the poem, gamely pausing once to start over after a office-wide announcement played over the building's loudspeakers. Read more...
