An iceberg the size of Delaware broke off Antarctica

One of the largest icebergs ever recorded—measuring about the size of Delaware and containing a volume of ice twice the size of Lake Erie—broke free from the Larsen C Ice Shelf in northwest Antarctica. Scientists have watched this particular iceberg forming since 2014, after a rift was detected in Larsen C, and the crack started to extend. Read more...
